Anyone tried Rosetta Stone language learning?
February 17, 2012
I am interested in learning Danish. The Rosetta Stone language learning sytem seems like a good choice but it’s quite expensive so can anyone tell me about your experience with it if you’ve tried it? Was it effective at helping you to learn a language?
Thanks for the feedback. I’d prefer to take Danish lessons from a live person but I’ve checked and unfortunately there are not any lessons offered where I live.

Just forget RS completely. It’s ridiculously overpriced, overrated and overhyped. All it does is make you repeat simple things like a parrot, nothing else. No context-based learning, no feedback, no grammar teaching, no conversation, no nothing. Cash-in for absolutely nothing, because this will never ever be able to replace real face-to-face language lessons nor other "conventional" language learning methods, nor make anyone fluent in any language, let alone master one. Please stay well away from these kind of "gimmicks"!
hi
Hi,
I would definitely recommend it, it’s a wonderful piece of software, because you’re completely immersed in the language you’re learning. I’m Portuguese and had great results when learning Dutch. Unfortunately I think they don’t have the Danish Package in their last version, but I’m sure they have it for older versions. Good luck.
Rosetta stone is completely hit or miss for most people. Personally I feel that it is quite good at teaching you to speak and understand a language even if sometimes making proper sentences is a bit harder than it should be with the vocabulary you will learn, you will be able to make sense to native speakers
Most of rosetta stone is repeating yourself over and over.
Where rosetta stone fails is first of all the price.. I think it’s way too much money for what it is but can be solid esp. for people who have a problem with self study. The serious issue with it is if you’re trying to learn how to read/write esp with a language that does not use the romanized alphabet.
Overall if you have the money I think that it will teach you to speak the language but if you can take a local class to learn dutch you may be better off spending that money there depending on your learning style.
